Share the Warmth: Coats for the Cold Drive

collection bin, signage, and young boy for donate a coat drive

We've all felt how the winter chill has come early this year. In fact, according to the extended forecasts from the Farmer's Almanac, this winter season in North Carolina will have "plenty of snow, rain, and mush"—as well as some record-breaking cold temperatures. They are warning readers to get ready to “shake, shiver, and shovel!“

Thankfully, longtime ABE partner Western Carolina Rescue Ministries (WCRM) is once again holding their annual Coats for the Cold drive in support of those in need. ABE is proud to serve as one of 6 collection points:

  • WCRM Main Shelter Location - 225 Patton Ave
  • Swannanoa Cleaners, 4 locations - 165 Coxe Ave, 1356 Patton Ave, 712 Merrimon Ave, 780 Hendersonville Rd
  • ABE - 3072 Sweeten Creek Rd

The ABE collection bin is located at our side entrance until 28 October. We ask you to please drop by with new or gently used, clean items such as coats, scarves, gloves and hats.

On a related note, WCRM wants to remind everyone that their clothing closet, located at 225 Patton Ave, is open every Tuesday & Friday from 9-10:30AM.

The Coats for the Cold Drive will take place November 5, with distribution occurring at the main shelter location. Please consider cleaning out your closets for those less fortunate—whether these items go to children, disabled veterans, homeless individuals, or simply someone going through a rough patch, everyone deserves to feel warm this winter!
