Our non-profit client for this week has a mission that, as a local 38 year business ourselves, is near and dear to our hearts: to sustain the heritage and sense of place that is Asheville and Buncombe County through preservation and promotion of the unique historic resources of the region.
This week we salute our long-time non-profit client the Diana Wortham Theatre, a cultural and educational resource for our community hosting live performances of music, theatre and dance by national and international touring artists since 1992. The Theatre has also been available to a wide range of regional arts groups and organizations to present performances and events. In 2017/2018, over 40 organizations presented over 200 public events at Diana Wortham Theatre, including local favorites Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance, Asheville Performing Arts Academy, Asheville Lyric Opera, Ballet Conservatory of Asheville, Music Video Asheville, and YMCA of Western North Carolina.
While it's true that our non-profit client of the week, Meals on Wheels of Asheville-Buncombe County (MOWABC), provides hot, nutritious meals delivered to elderly, homebound persons, that is not the single focus of their mission. Their work ultimately enables the elderly to live in their own homes, among familiar surroundings, and maintain their dignity while aging.
