Today’s client feature shines a spotlight on a critically important organization in Asheville: Our VOICE, a non-profit crisis intervention and prevention agency serving victims of sexual violence, age 13 through adult, in Buncombe County. Founded in 1974 as an all-volunteer, grassroots organization, the agency received 501(c)(3) status as a non-profit agency in 1983.
Our non-profit client of the week focuses on a disease many believe no longer exists. Since their beginnings the American Leprosy Missions has ministered to four million people in 42 countries around the world, striving to end this disease once and for all.
While it's true that our non-profit client of the week, Meals on Wheels of Asheville-Buncombe County (MOWABC), provides hot, nutritious meals delivered to elderly, homebound persons, that is not the single focus of their mission. Their work ultimately enables the elderly to live in their own homes, among familiar surroundings, and maintain their dignity while aging.
This week we’re giving a huge shoutout to our non-profit client IFB Solutions-Asheville, a branch of IFB Solutions. Across the country, this organization provides people who are blind or visually impaired with new opportunities in the form of employment, training and other services. IFB (Industries for the Blind) believes people who are visually impaired have the right to succeed in every area of life.
